We held an in-house hackathon

Hello. I am in charge of public relations for CUBE SYSTEM.
We held an internal hackathon event in October 2023. I actually participated in the event, so I would like to introduce it to you.

What is a hackathon?

A hackathon is an event where developers program on a specific issue and develop apps and systems.
This was the first time in four years that the event had been suspended within CUBE SYSTEM due to the coronavirus pandemic.


This time's development issue is "health"!
The rule was to prepare something that worked based on the ideas related to "health" that were born at an ideathon held internally in July.
There were no restrictions on technology or development structure, and the hackathon was held in such a way that the developed products were unveiled on the day of the hackathon.

Posters were also displayed inside the company, and the event was very exciting even before the event started!

A hybrid event with online and offline participation!

This was the first time in a while that the event was held, and a total of 6 teams participated, including employees from CUBE SYSTEM Head Office, Subsidiaries Hokkaido CUBE SYSTEM, Vietnam CUBE SYSTEM, and Triple Eyes, with whom we have a capital and business alliance. .
By holding the event in a hybrid format with online and offline participation, I think the hurdles for participation and viewing have been significantly lowered.

This time, it's being billed as a showdown of technology, so we're featuring apps that embody "health" using the skills each person has honed! Even participants who were confident in their skills expressed their admiration for the methods and ideas. It was a feeling that any team could have won, but the team that combined ``health, stamping, and games'' was the winner.

The decisive factor in winning was the use of the in-house development framework "F@CE-DX." Despite the short period of time, they were able to realize their ideas using advanced technology.
At the end, the event came to a close with praise for each other's efforts.

What is “F@CE-DX”?
A framework created within CUBE SYSTEM for rapid system development. It standardizes the knowledge necessary for mobile, web, and cloud backends, and was created with the goal of ``getting the system up and running in two weeks without any prior knowledge.'' It is often used in DX projects where it is difficult to determine exact specifications at the system planning stage.

The actual presentation was not only an explanation of the development environment and content, but also a demonstration of the application in action, and the event proceeded in a relaxed atmosphere. In addition, there were many applications this time that used the current topic of ``generative AI'', and I was impressed by the way they asked each other questions after the presentations in order to absorb each technology and way of thinking.
I'm really looking forward to seeing what kind of apps will be developed at the next hackathon.
