Host an in-house ideathon!

Hello. I'm the PR manager CUBE SYSTEM. The other day, we held an ideathon event in our company. I actually participated in it, so I'd like to share with you how it went.

What is an ideathon?

Ideathon is a combination of the words "idea" and "marathon."
This is an event where participants share new ideas within a limited time frame.
Creating ideas together, not alone
It's a real pleasure.
We also use it as a place to interact with members of other departments that we don't normally have much contact with.

The idea behind this is to create ideas like shortcut keys and free up time!

Participation by members from various backgrounds, from new recruits to department heads

On the day, 17 employees from different departments and positions participated, including new recruits who joined the company this term, the head of the sales department, and members of the staff department.
In the first half, participants competed with their individual ideas. This time, issue was creating time, but ideas like "I wish something like this existed" came out one after another, with each person coming up with a variety of different approaches, such as an "AI secretary" that uses generative AI to adjust your workload, a system that estimates your working hours, and a system that helps you make sure to secure time for health. Ideas are generated based on each person's position and environment, and I felt that this is the best part of ideathons!

In the second half, the participants chose the top four ideas from those presented in the first half, and competed by brushing up their ideas as a team. Each team was like a group of people who agreed with one idea, and they shared ideas with each other, even if they had never met before.
Any of the four refined ideas could have been the winner, but in the final vote, the idea that uses generative AI to match people with employees who can help with their work was declared the winner!
The deciding factor for their victory was their incorporation of the in-house generative AI "inCUBEator" into their matching system. By using an existing system, their idea was highly evaluated, as was their feasibility.

*What is an incubator?
This app provides interactive business support using the GPT API in a secure environment for CUBE employees.
Like ChatGPT, you can send a question to the GPT API, receive a response from the API, and communicate in chat format.

Finally

This was the first ideathon held in a long time, and as a participant myself, I was reminded of the joy of freely coming up with ideas.

In the team competition, everyone was able to enjoy the fun of sharing ideas on a common issue regardless of their position. It was impressive to see how each team was thinking in a friendly atmosphere.
There were also new employees on the team, so I realized it was a great opportunity to make new connections.
This event made me strongly realize that good ideas require good communication.

By the way, the team I was on won the competition thanks to the synergistic effect of the ideas of the members! (I'm proud of myself.)
